We are currently seeking an English SEN supply teacher to work at one of our local schools in Brighton.
The school is an alternative provision which provides education for those pupils who have Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) which prevent them from accessing their mainstream place or they have been permanently excluded from mainstream school due to various reasons.
It is a very small school meaning the class sizes are no more than 6 pupils.It is a Secondary school that offers a large variety of vocational courses for students and often deliver outdoor education.
Your duties will involve:
- delivering the lessons in accordance with the class teachers planning
- encouraging and supporting pupils
- you may be required to mark pupils work
- understanding individual pupils needs and dealing with challenging behaviour
This is a temporary position starting ASAP until half term but there is the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.
To be successful in this role it is desirable if you:
- have a QTS (no QTS will also be considered)
- have experience working within a school setting
- have experience working with children and/or adults with learning difficulties
- be resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour
- have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs, or a willingness to learn
- have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing
- be nurturing and enthusiastic
- have the ability to manage challenging behaviour
Pay £100 - £180 depending on experience.
Hours – 8.30-3.30pm
Fulltime – Monday – Friday
Location – Moulsecoomb

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
