Job description

Mentor for Children at Risk of Exclusion

We are looking for a dedicated and resilient Mentor to work with children who have been, or are at risk of being, excluded from school. This role is a chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people by offering guidance, structure, and support both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people who require additional support.

  • Provide mentoring to help pupils re-engage with education, improve confidence, and develop positive behaviours.

  • Support learning across the curriculum, adapting approaches to meet the needs of each pupil.

  • Deliver tuition sessions where appropriate (experience in this area is desirable).

  • Work closely with schools, families, and other professionals to ensure consistent support.

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience working with children who have challenging behaviour and/or additional needs.

  • Strong knowledge of the school curriculum.

  • Ability to deliver tuition is desirable but not essential.

  • A teaching qualification is not required.

  • Child-Only Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
