Sports Student / Graduate – PE Cover Supervisor


Location: Secondary School, Cardiff
Role: PE Cover Supervisor / Sports & Behaviour Support Coach
Pay: £110 - £120 per day
Contract: Long-Term Placement or Adhoc

Are you a sports student or graduate passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives through sport and physical activity? This is your chance to gain valuable school-based experience while supporting pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs) and challenging behaviour in a supportive Cardiff secondary school.

The Role – What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead engaging PE lessons, 1:1 activity sessions, and after-school enrichment clubs
  • Support students with behavioural or emotional challenges through structured sport sessions
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to promote self-regulation, teamwork, and confidence
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff to align learning goals
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with pupils in a consistent, calm, and patient way

 Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Studying or graduated in Sports Science, PE, Coaching, Psychology, or a related field
  • Confident delivering physical activities or coaching young people
  • Passionate about mental wellbeing, emotional support, and inclusive sport
  • Familiar with SEMH needs, behavioural strategies, and safeguarding practices
  • Great communicator, team player, calm under pressure

Bonus if you have:

  • Team Teach or Thrive training (or willing to train – we’ll support you!)
  • First Aid qualification
  • Experience in youth work, coaching, or SEND environments
