Sports Mentor / Teaching Assistant - Derby - Full time or part time - starting Monday 2nd November
Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a teaching assistant who specialises in sports/PE (ideally you will have done a degree in this subject) who is available and looking for a position starting after October half term.
The school are looking for someone to do a split role, part sports mentoring and partly as a teaching assistant working within the schools learning support base.
*Students in the LSB are all on EHCP's and are working significantly below their peers academically*
The school are looking to invite suitable candidates in before they break up for half term (on Friday 23rd October).
About the LSB:
- Classes are small with a high ratio of staff to students
- Students are taught in ability groups across year groups
- Staff look at what is best for each child as an individual when considering curriculum, enrichment and grouping
- Staff know the students well
- Staff are skilled at working with students with learning difficulties and many other SEND needs
- Timetables can be personalised to suit physiotherapy, speech and occupational therapy programmes from health professionals
- Students can access main school lessons if appropriate, including GCSE/BTEC courses
This role is ideally suited to individuals:
- Graduates
- Sports coaches, sports and/or education students
- University students
- Football, or cricket coaches
- Swim coaches
- Multi-activity coaches
- Play worker
- Holiday camp worker
- Childcare students
- PE specialists/teachers not wanting to teach full classes
Skills match:
- Experience of working with 4-17s in a sports coaching, education or activity setting
- Studying towards or already completed a degree in childcare, primary/secondary teaching, sports coaching or PE qualification
- A passion for sports and developing children
- Leadership and organisational skills
- Vibrant, fun, confident personality
- Commitment to high quality customer service to parents and children
- Team player with a willingness to adapt
