Sports coach/Teaching assistant

Full time role 

We have a teaching assistant role within one of our partner schools which is ideal for a sports coach or someone with sports coaching experience. It is to work within a Monmouthshire Secondary School assisting small groups and 1:1 with children who need that extra support. Sports coaching experience is ideal for this role as the skills and attributes are very transferable to be a teaching assistant, and has proved highly successful in the past. Sports coaches have previously worked very well with the students in this school which is why the head is keen to get similar characters.

  • Pay: GBP285 to GBP300 per week

The school, which is situated just off the M4 is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive which benefits from outstanding facilities. They enforce a strict behaviour management programme to ensure the student’s focus is on learning. Sports coaching experience will enable the right candidate to enforce this behaviour management and keep the student engaged in their learning. A sports coach is also required as there is a lot of down time for the students where sports is used a calming and distraction tool.

What the successful teaching assistant/sports coach needs:

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Registration with the Education workforce council (assistance provided)
  • 2 latest professional references
  • Experience working with children is desirable
