Monmouthshire Secondary School

Sports coach/Teaching assistant supporting pupils aged 12-16yrs

Full time role starting in September

**Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, successful applicants will be interviewed via teams, skype or zoom**

 

After working closely with the Headteacher of this secondary school to support during COVID-19 efforts are now being turned to September recruitment. We have a full time teaching assistant role available which is ideal for a sports coach or someone with sports coaching experience. This role is to work with small groups of children in key stage 3 who need that extra support. Sports coaching experience is ideal for this role as the skills and attributes are very transferable to be a teaching assistant, and has proved highly successful in the past. 

The school, which is situated just off the M4 is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive which benefits from outstanding facilities. They enforce a strict behaviour management programme to ensure the student’s focus is on learning. Sports coaching experience will enable the right candidate to enforce this behaviour management and keep the student engaged in their learning. A sports coach is also required as there is a lot of down time for the students where sports is used a calming and distraction tool.

You would be joining a very supportive and successful department who are always progressing and pushing the development of their pupils. The SENCo has asked that we find an engaging and driven teaching assistant to support this particluar group of children. These pupils need a role model to help them achieve their potential. 

Highlights of the teaching assistant role:

  • Sports background desirable as you will be supporting in this area
  • Pay: GBP300 to GBP350 per week
  • September start date 
  • Full time
  • Potential for permanent position

What the successful teaching assistant/sports coach needs:

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Registration with the Education workforce council (assistance provided)
  • 2 latest professional references
  • Experience working with children is desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
