Sports Coach – Teaching Assistant / Cover Supervisor

Location: WN6, Wigan
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: Up to £100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only

Are you a Sports Coach or PE graduate with a passion for working with young people? Are you looking to transfer your coaching skills into a rewarding school-based role?

A vibrant and supportive secondary school in the WN6 area of Wigan is looking for a confident, energetic, and proactive individual to join their team as a Teaching Assistant and Cover Supervisor. This is a great opportunity for anyone with a sports or coaching background considering a career in education or behaviour support.

The Role:

  • Supporting students across a range of subjects and abilities

  • Stepping into classes in the absence of teachers to deliver pre-planned lessons

  • Using your coaching and mentoring skills to manage behaviour and maintain engagement

  • Assisting in PE lessons and extra-curricular activities where possible

  • Supporting individual students or small groups with focus, confidence, and teamwork

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Background in Sports Coaching, PE, or Youth Mentoring

  • Confident leading groups and maintaining positive behaviour

  • Strong communication, adaptability, and classroom presence

  • Interested in pursuing a career in education, PE teaching, or behaviour support

  • Experience working with young people in any setting is highly desirable
