Sports Coach
Job description
Turn Your Coaching Skills Into a Life-Changing Career
Are you a sports coach looking for something more rewarding, more meaningful, and more impactful?
Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools are looking for talented, energetic individuals just like you to become Teaching Assistants - and you may already have the perfect skill set.
Why Sports Coaches Thrive in SEN Schools
Working in an SEN school isn’t about standing at the front of a classroom delivering lectures. It’s about building trust, encouraging resilience, and helping young people overcome barriers - all things you already do every day as a coach.
Here’s why your skills transfer so naturally:
- Communication & Motivation - You know how to break skills down, give clear instructions, and motivate individuals with different abilities. In an SEN setting, that ability to adapt your communication style is invaluable.
- Behaviour Management - Managing a team, handling competitive emotions, and maintaining discipline. That’s real-world behaviour management. SEN schools need calm, confident adults who can set boundaries while building positive relationships.
- Patience & Resilience - Progress doesn’t happen overnight in sport - and it doesn’t in education either. Your understanding of small wins, perseverance, and long-term development makes a huge difference.
- Teamwork - Just like coaching staff work together to develop players, SEN Teaching Assistants collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support teams to help every student succeed.
- Active & Engaging Approach - Many students in SEN schools benefit from movement-based and practical learning. Your energy and creativity can transform a child’s school experience.
As a Teaching Assistant in an SEN school, you won’t just develop skills — you’ll change lives. You’ll support young people with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and social, emotional and mental health needs to grow in confidence and independence.
Every day brings variety, challenge, and the chance to see genuine progress.
If you’re a coach who:
- Loves helping young people succeed
- Thrives on building strong relationships
- Stays calm under pressure
- Is ready for a new challenge
Then a role in an SEN school could be your next big move.
Apply today and turn your coaching talent into a career that truly matters.
