Sports Coach – Alternative Provision
Location: Darwen, Lancashire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Contract: Long-Term, Full-Time
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: £13.75 - £14.50

Are you a passionate and resilient Sports Coach looking for a new and rewarding opportunity?
We are currently working with a well-established Alternative Provision in Darwen that caters to secondary-aged pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support. They are seeking a Sports Coach to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.

While the primary focus of this role is delivering and supporting sports and physical activities, you will also be expected to undertake general Teaching Assistant duties across the school. This includes classroom support, 1:1 intervention, and behaviour management, both inside and outside of PE lessons.

The Role:

  • Deliver structured and engaging physical education and sports sessions

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and managing behaviour

  • Work with small groups or on a 1:1 basis to support learning and personal development

  • Act as a positive role model for students who may face social, emotional, and behavioural challenges

  • Help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

About You:

  • Background in Sports Coaching, PE, or Youth Work

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or alternative provision setting

  • Confident, calm, and adaptable approach to behaviour management

  • Strong team player with a genuine passion for making a difference

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
