Pay: From £89.38 per day (increase due from April)
Contract: Full-time, Monday–Friday, term-time

Job Summary

Teaching Personnel are looking for a full-time Sport Teaching Assistant to support a primary school in Newport from March 2026. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in sport, fitness, coaching or physical activity. The position is split between classroom support and sport-based sessions, helping to improve pupil engagement, behaviour and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Support PE lessons and deliver small‑group sport activities
• Use sport to increase pupil motivation, focus and participation
• Provide classroom support across KS1 and KS2
• Work 1:1 or with small groups to support learning and confidence
• Lead structured movement sessions, games and outdoor activities
• Encourage positive behaviour and act as a role model
• Support general classroom duties and playground supervision

About You

• Experience in sport, coaching, fitness or PE
• Experience working with children (school, coaching or youth work)
• Confident, energetic and enthusiastic
• Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Reliable and committed to working full-time
• Passionate about using sport to support learning

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK
• Relevant sport or childcare qualifications beneficial

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
