Teaching Assistant – Primary School
Location: NP19 Area, Newport
Start Date: February 2026
Pay Rate: £89.38 per day (rising in April 2026)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time Only (Temporary with potential for extension)
Job Description
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming primary school in the NP19 area to recruit a Teaching Assistant starting in February 2026.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children’s learning and development within a primary school setting. The school is happy to consider candidates with a range of experience levels, including those looking to take their first step into education.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils in the classroom on a one-to-one or small group basis
- Assisting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities
- Helping to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
- Supporting pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development
- Following school policies and safeguarding procedures
The Ideal Candidate
- A positive, patient, and reliable attitude
- A genuine interest in working with primary-aged children
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in a school or child-focused setting is desirable but not essential
