Speech & Language Assistant, Islington (Highbury & Islington)
A fantastic school in Islington are recruiting for a Speech & Language Assistant to join their Primary team after the October half break.
This school is located in N1, Islington and near Highbury and Islington station (London Overground and Victoria lines)
This is a two form entry School and have been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. This school is particularly focused on their SEN department and have shown fantastic results with their students.
The special educational needs and disabilities department will offer a great amount of support when you join their team. You will have the opportunity to work with extremely hard-working and experienced specialists including: Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language therapists and other medical professionals who are all focused on raising the attainment throughout the school.
The school have made special provision for Deaf children and all of their classes are sound proofed to minimise the background noise while children wear radio aids to enable them to hear the teachers more clearly. They have a rigorous tracking system in place which is shared both by parents and carers with their children regularly.
We have an achievement assembly weekly and A Good as Gold Assembly where Special Certificates are awarded personally to pupils. In addition quick notes home are given in the week to pupils who show excellent social skills and manners at lunchtime.

The Role:
Type:Speech & Language Assistant (Primary)
Start: 28 October 2019
Position type: Full-time until the end of the academic year.
The successful candidate would display the following:
- Experience and knowledge of working with children with a wide range of abilities
- A general understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum
- Secure knowledge and skills relating to strategies in working with pupils with Complex Learning Needs
- An interest, motivation and passion for working with special needs children and developing skills to facilitate this
- Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
