Specialist Learning Mentor Position, Autism Provision: Reading
Teaching Personnel are currently looking for candidates to help support at a specialist school in the Reading area. The school are looking for candidates who can support generally as a learning mentor, helping the class teacher with delivering the planned work and helping students stay focused
The school are also looking for candidates with creative backgrounds or specialisms in English or Maths. Candidates with these specialisms should definitely get in contact as the school are looking for specific learning mentors for core subjects and for subjects like Art and Drama. Should you be successful in your application for a specialist role you will be in line to receive a higher rate than standard teaching assistant roles.
The role will involve working on a 1:1 and small group basis with children and young people with a variety of needs. The main part of your role will be to aid and support in the young peoples learning, education and enrichment and will involve de-escalating and dealing with behaviours of an extreme nature in some schools.
Desired backgrounds include:
- Sports coaching
- Youth work
- Graduates: Psychology/English/Maths
- Working with vulnerable children
- Art & design
