Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Bradford

A special school in Bradford are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant. This is a full time role, (8:30am-3:30pm, Mon-Fri, term time only) on a temporary basis until July 2019. There will also be an opportunity to continue in the role in September.

We are ideally seeking a teaching assistant with a qualification in speech and language or an individual who has a considerable amount of experience supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs.


Our client is a large, all age school (3-19), specialising in Communication and Interaction. 90% of pupils have a diagnosis of Autism, and many pupils are pre-verbal or use communication aids such as PECs or Makaton.

You will be required to support pupils across school, supporting access to learning activities. You will work under the direction of specialist teachers and will also work closely with an on-site Speech and Language Therapist to deliver specific programmes of support designed to raise attainment and improve pupils' communication.


The successful applicant will have:

- Experience working with pupils who have SLCN

- Experience of working in close collaboration with a classroom teacher, school support staff and the wider community

- An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the SEND code of practice

- A commitment to assuring that all pupils are fully supported in achieving the best possible outcomes and exceeding expectations
