Special Needs Support Assistant (PMLD/Autism)

A specialist primary school in Ealing is looking for four SEN Teaching Assistants to work 1:1 and with small groups of children with physical and sensory difficulties (complex needs).

• Local to Greenford Station – Ealing
• Local to Sudbury Hill Station - Harrow
• Full-time, 22^nd Feb or 8^th March 2021 start
• Temporary to permanent contract
• GBP65-75 per day (negotiable)

This is because the staff are incredibly skilled and well trained with SLT additionally being brilliantly supportive. Even though the nature of this work is challenging, there's a real companionship and sense of humour which glues the school together.

The role is full-time and will start after the February half term with four positions available in the autism and PMLD (profound and multiple learning difficulties) department. This school has a reduced capacity of children in during lockdown as students are deemed as vulnerable due to their special needs. This will initially start as temporary cover through Teaching Personnel with the option to go permanent if all parties are happy. 

You will need to be resilient, patient and confident. You do not NEED formal teaching assistant qualifications, but you do need have one of the following three attributes below:

1:1 support experience with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Mental Health with children or adults

OR

Experience supporting with PECS, Makaton or Moving and Handling for people

OR

A degree in a relevant subject for special education or mental health - Psychology, Sociology, Education, Neuroscience, Disability Studies, Health etc.
