Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Penzance

Teaching Personnel are currently working with schools around Cornwall and are looking to recruit a TA to work 1:1 with children who have a diagnosis of Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and Autism. The school are in need of a full time Support Assistant to work on a full time basis across the KS1 board.

This is a fantastic opportunity for psychology graduates, youth workers, Sports coaches, residential support workers and experienced individuals who are passionate about working with SEN children.

Your duties will include:

•              Working under the direction of the teacher and supporting them throughout the day

•              Assisting the children in small groups and 1:1 with the tasks set by the teacher

•              Building up a good rapport between yourself, the teachers and the children.

•              Supporting children with SEN ranging from mild to severe.

•              Working in collaboration with other professionals such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists and other health care professionals.

To apply for this position, you will need:

•              Recent experience of working in a Mainstream classroom/or experience of working with children with special educational needs (SEN)

•              A strong passion for education and motivation to demonstrate this within your role

•              An approachable and positive attitude.

•              Hold relevant qualifications

•              Have good Behaviour Management

•              Hold a current DBS on the update service or willing to take one.
