Primary SEN Teaching Assistant – Morecambe

 

Start Date: ASAP or September Start Dates Available

Contract type: Full-time / Part-time available

Location: Morecambe and surrounding areas

Teaching Personnel are working closely with several nurturing and supportive primary schools across the Morecambe area who are looking to welcome enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to their teams. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about helping younger pupils with additional needs to flourish both academically and emotionally.

The role:

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language needs, and developmental delays.
  • Support learning through play-based activities, structured routines, and personalised interventions.
  • Help pupils develop early literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation in a calm, nurturing manner.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and wider support staff to ensure pupils receive appropriate and consistent support.
  • Assist with classroom preparation, resources, and creating inclusive learning environments.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting young children, ideally with SEND (school-based or transferrable experience welcomed).
  • Is warm, patient, and able to build trusting relationships with younger learners.
  • Can adapt quickly to the needs of individual pupils and follow tailored support plans.
  • Has strong communication skills and a positive, proactive approach.
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS on the update service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
