A Secondary Pupil Referral Unit who are seeking a Social, Emotional and Mental Health Mentors who are looking to work within a challenging setting. The school caters for students who are aged between 11-16 who need support through education due to barriers. Most of the pupils who the SEN Teaching assistant will be supporting have individual EHCP's and have ADHD.
Here, you will work with pupils on a one to one or small group basis, looking at developing both their skills for learning and communication skills; which are often masked by poor behaviour. Knowledge of running nurture groups, or developing strategies to help pupils reach personal and social development targets are essential.
These are challenging but hugely rewarding post, engaging with our most vulnerable young people, their families and other agencies to secure positive outcomes.
