Job description
Do you have the experience and empathy to make a real difference in a child’s education?
We’re looking for dedicated and experienced SEND tutors to deliver Maths and English support to primary and secondary pupils in Wallingford and the surrounding areas.
Our learners often have gaps in their education or are working below age-related expectations. Many have additional needs, including autism, PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) challenges. Some pupils may also be Looked After Children (LAC), from disadvantaged backgrounds, or have experienced school exclusions.
You’ll help each child rebuild confidence, develop key skills, and re-engage with learning through patient, structured and individualised support.
About the role:

Subjects: Maths and English (Primary & Secondary)

Location: Wallingford & surrounding areas – sessions take place in homes, libraries, schools, or online

Hours: Minimum 10–15 hours per week, with flexibility for more

Type: Ongoing, part-time or full-time opportunities
We’re looking for tutors who:

Have at least 2 years of UK-based teaching or tutoring experience.

Have a solid understanding of and empathy for pupils with autism, PDA, and SEMH needs.

Can adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning and emotional needs.

Are committed to accurate record-keeping, including logging attendance and writing detailed session reports to be shared with the Local Authority or school.

Are reliable, reflective, and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Hold relevant tutoring or teaching experience (QTS desirable but not essential).

Possess an Enhanced DBS (or are willing to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
