Job description
Are you an experienced, empathetic educator who can inspire confidence in learners who face additional challenges?
We’re seeking dedicated SEND tutors to deliver Maths and English tuition to primary and secondary pupils in Guildford and the surrounding areas.
Our pupils may be working below age-related expectations, have significant learning gaps, or face challenges associated with autism, PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs). Many will be Looked After Children (LAC), from disadvantaged backgrounds, or have experienced exclusions from school.
You’ll play a vital role in helping them rebuild self-belief, make academic progress, and engage positively with learning through patient, personalised teaching.
About the role:

Subjects: Maths and English (Primary & Secondary)

Location: Guildford & surrounding areas – sessions may take place in homes, schools, libraries, or online

Hours: Minimum 10–15 hours per week, with potential for additional work

Type: Flexible, ongoing part-time or full-time roles
We’re looking for tutors who:

Have a minimum of 2 years’ UK-based tutoring or teaching experience.

Possess strong understanding and empathy for pupils with autism, PDA, and SEMH needs.

Are skilled at creating structured, engaging lessons tailored to individual learning profiles.

Are committed to accurate record-keeping – including logging attendance and writing detailed session reports that are shared with the Local Authority or school.

Are reliable, reflective, and passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Hold relevant teaching or tutoring experience (QTS desirable but not essential).

Have a current Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
