SEND Support Worker – Haywards Heath
Teaching Personnel is proud to be working in partnership with a nurturing and inclusive Primary Special Educational Needs (SEND) school in the Haywards Heath area, who are looking to recruit a compassionate and dedicated SEND Support Worker to join their team on a full-time, temporary-to-permanent basis.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve both academically and personally. You will provide tailored 1:1 support to primary-aged boys with Special Educational Needs, playing a key role in their educational journey while building positive and trusting relationships that enable them to thrive.
The Role
As a SEND Support Worker, you will work closely with individual pupils throughout the school day, providing personalised support both inside and outside the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering dedicated 1:1 support to primary-aged boys with Special Educational Needs.

Building strong, positive relationships that promote confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.

Supporting pupils with their academic learning, adapting activities to meet individual needs and encourage engagement.

Assisting pupils during transitions between lessons and around the school environment.

Encouraging participation during Physical Education lessons, including activities such as football and other team sports, ensuring pupils feel supported, included, and motivated.

Supporting children during outdoor learning, enrichment activities, and educational visits.

Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff to provide consistent and effective support.

Promoting positive behaviour and helping pupils develop essential communication, social, and life skills.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:

Has previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Is patient, caring, resilient, and enthusiastic about making a genuine difference in children's lives.

Has experience or confidence working on a 1:1 basis with primary-aged pupils.

Enjoys promoting active participation in physical activities and outdoor learning.

Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS.

Can commit to working full-time, Monday to Friday.

Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle due to the school's location.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
