 PMLD/CLDD Learning Support Assistant

 Location: Chelmsford
 Contract: Full-time / Long-term / Temp-to-perm

About the Role

Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) or Complex Learning Disabilities and Difficulties (CLDD)?
We are working with a fantastic SEND school within Chelmsford that provides a nurturing, inclusive, and person-centred environment for children and young people with additional needs. The school is looking for a caring and resilient individual to join their team and make a real difference to students’ lives.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Supporting pupils with PMLD/CLDD in all aspects of their learning and development.
• Assisting with personal care and mobility, including moving and handling and hoisting (full training provided if needed).
• Supporting pupils with complex medical needs, including those with epilepsy and dysphagia.
• Using communication aids and sensory resources to engage and motivate pupils.
• Working with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver individualised education and care plans.
• Sociable hours, Monday to Friday – 8.30am-4pm.

Ideal candidate:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with PMLD/CLDD (school, residential, or care setting) - desirable
• Any transferrable skills, such as care/ support worker setting, ambulance, police force, military, residential care, sports coach etc.
• Understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
• A patient, positive, and compassionate approach.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Desirable CPD and Training (or willingness to undertake):

✅ Moving and Positioning – including Hoisting
✅ Epilepsy Awareness
✅ Dysphagia Training
