PMLD/CLDD Learning Support Assistant
Location: Chelmsford
Contract: Full-time / Long-term / Temp-to-perm
About the Role
Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) or Complex Learning Disabilities and Difficulties (CLDD)?
We are working with a fantastic SEND school within Chelmsford that provides a nurturing, inclusive, and person-centred environment for children and young people with additional needs. The school is looking for a caring and resilient individual to join their team and make a real difference to students’ lives.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Supporting pupils with PMLD/CLDD in all aspects of their learning and development.
- Assisting with personal care and mobility, including moving and handling and hoisting (full training provided if needed).
- Supporting pupils with complex medical needs, including those with epilepsy and dysphagia.
- Using communication aids and sensory resources to engage and motivate pupils.
- Working with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver individualised education and care plans.
- Sociable hours, Monday to Friday – 8.30am-4pm.
Ideal candidate:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with PMLD/CLDD (school, residential, or care setting) - desirable
- Any transferrable skills, such as care/ support worker setting, ambulance, police force, military, residential care, sports coach etc.
- Understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
- A patient, positive, and compassionate approach.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Desirable CPD and Training (or willingness to undertake):
✅ Moving and Positioning – including Hoisting
✅ Epilepsy Awareness
✅ Dysphagia Training
(We can support your professional development and provide access to these CPD courses if not already completed.)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
