Job Title: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator)
Location: Basingstoke
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: As soon as possible

The Role
As SENCO you will lead and drive the strategic development of SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) provision across the Academy. Your responsibilities will include:

Designing, implementing and monitoring the School’s SEND policy and practice, ensuring compliance with statutory duties (e.g., EHCPs, exam access arrangements)

Overseeing day-to-day operational leadership of SEND provision: coordinating interventions, working with teaching staff and support staff, reviewing progress and outcomes

Leading, managing and developing the SEND team (teachers, TAs, support staff) to ensure high-quality support and inclusive practice across the school

Liaising with parents/carers, external agencies (health, social care, local authority) and stakeholders to ensure cohesive support for students

Supporting staff development in adaptive teaching, differentiation, behaviour support and inclusive strategies

Analysing data and outcomes relating to SEND students; reporting to Senior Leadership Team; contributing to school development and improvement planning
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a dedicated, dynamic professional who:

Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and ideally a NASENCO qualification
-
Has significant experience working with young people with SEMH, ASC and/or other SEND needs in secondary or specialist settings
-
Demonstrates strong leadership, communication and organisational skills, with a proven ability to lead teams and work collaboratively across disciplines

Has a calm, consistent and reflective approach, with the flexibility and resilience to respond to a complex setting

Is passionate about inclusive education, improving life-chances and making a real difference for young people
