SEN Teaching Assistants

We are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with complex needs and profound and multiple learning disabilities at a specialist SEN setting in the Preston area. This is a highly rewarding role suited to compassionate, resilient and committed individuals who are passionate about inclusive education. Pupils at the setting may have profound learning disabilities, complex medical needs, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and communication difficulties. Many pupils are non-verbal and require personalised support throughout the school day.

Opportunities are available on an agency basis, including ad hoc shifts as well as full-time temporary roles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex needs and PMLD

  • Supporting pupils with personal care, mobility and feeding where required

  • Assisting with the use of specialist equipment and sensory resources

  • Supporting communication through alternative and augmentative methods

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and care staff to follow individual care and education plans

  • Ensuring pupils’ safety, dignity and wellbeing at all times

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience or a strong interest in supporting pupils with complex needs or PMLD

  • Be calm, patient and emotionally resilient

  • Be comfortable supporting personal care and medical routines

  • Be attentive to pupils’ physical, emotional and sensory needs

  • Be reliable, flexible and able to travel independently to the school

 

Previous experience in SEN schools, care settings, supported living or healthcare environments is highly desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
