SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 7 ALN Class Support
Location: Newport Secondary School (easily accessible from Cardiff via A48/M4, or by public transport)
️ Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025
Contract: Full-Time | Term-Time Only
Pay: £89.83 per day (Paid PAYE)

We are recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Newport, supporting a Year 7 class of pupils with mixed additional learning needs. The school has an excellent reputation for inclusion and staff development, offering a nurturing and structured environment where every child can succeed.
About the Role
This rewarding position will see you working in a Year 7 class with a range of ALN, including:

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
-
ADHD and attention difficulties
-
Anxiety and emotional regulation challenges
-
A pupil who uses a wheelchair and requires mobility support
You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to provide tailored, one-to-one and small-group support, adapting resources, assisting with sensory and communication needs, and helping pupils build confidence during their transition into secondary school life.
The school is modern, well-resourced, and offers excellent support for new staff. It’s conveniently located with great transport links from Cardiff and surrounding areas, and easily reached via the A48 or M4 for those commuting by car.

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
✔️ Patient, caring, and enthusiastic about supporting young people
✔️ Confident working with pupils aged 11–12
✔️ Adaptable, reliable, and a great communicator
Experience supporting children with SEN/ALN is desirable but not essential — full training provided!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
