Are you a caring and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)?

 

Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity for a compassionate SLD Teaching Assistant to join our SEN (Special Educational Needs) provision in Billingshurst, making a positive impact on the lives of our exceptional learners.

As an SLD Teaching Assistant, you will be a vital member of our dedicated team, providing crucial support to students with SLD. Your patience and understanding will help create a supportive and encouraging atmosphere, fostering their personal growth and building their confidence in learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the class teacher to support students with SLD in their academic and social development.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support, tailored to individual learning plans and specific needs.
  • Assist with personal care and any additional support required to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Utilize creative approaches to engage students in activities and enhance their learning experience.
  • Collaborate with the school's SENCO and other support staff to deliver a holistic and comprehensive approach to education.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SLD is desirable but not essential; however, a passion for supporting their learning journey is crucial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students and colleagues.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to adapt support to suit different learning styles.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or special needs support is advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
