SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
As of late it has been well documented regarding the return to school for Autistic students, the below was taken from the National Autistic Society News feed in September 2020.
“At the National Autistic Society, we have talked to the Department for Education throughout the coronavirus pandemic, explaining the impact on autistic children and the need for careful planning so they can return to school.
“We welcome the minister’s clarity on the need for schools to make reasonable adjustments for disabled children, including recognising that an autistic child’s behaviour may be caused by anxiety. We will be talking to parents across the country about their children’s experiences and continuing to let ministers know what is happening and what needs to change.” – The National Autistic Society
As it is as of the above mentioned that a number of schools have implemented changes in regard to supporting children in school with Autism. Many schools particularly in Doncaster and The Dearne Valley have approached Teaching Personnel to their recently allocated catch up funding to recruit additional staff to support students with Autism on a 1:1 basis.
We are interested in hearing from 1:1 support assistant who have worked with Autistic children of a primary age before. You will understand the additional requirements that Autistic children may have and have the ability to build strong relations.
You will have the ability to create and tailor where possible, specific individual education plans that offer the learner both structure a routine.
Due to the Nature of the role we are most interested in speaking to job seekers who are available on a full time basis.
Role break down:
- Full time
- Temporary to permanent
- 1:1 support for Autistic students
- Doncaster and The Dearne Valley based placements
