An Ilford Primary School are looking for a full-time SEN Support Assistant to start as soon as possible.
The school want someone with experience of 1:1 care in any capacity, as this role requires dedicated personal care for an ASC child in year 5 who needs help sustained support throughout the day both in and out of class. Any qualification such as Team Teach would be extremely useful for this role as it would exhibit strong behaviour management and the ability to de-escalate situations where the child is angry.
The role is until the end of the academic year, as this child will need an adult accompanying them throughout the school day. Experience in dealing with SEN children is an absolute necessity for this role, but any experience in personal care would be equally as useful, as this role will involve many responsibilities similar to those in the care industry. Likewise, any experience in an SEN school used to dealing with in a role that required personal care would also be appreciated and valued by the school. The role also requires planning with the class teacher the work that the child will do throughout the term, as well as keeping track of their progress.
Preference for this role:
• Experience with SEN children – particularly ASC
• Confident in 1:1 support
• Good behaviour management
• Experience in SEN school OR Experience in Care Industry
Teaching Personnel are looking for enthusiastic support staff to put forward for this position. We need people who have a positive outlook and demeanour who can be relied upon to be punctual and polite in school, as you will be employed through the agency. For vetting purposes, we require a breakdown of the last 6 years of career history with 2 graded references we can contact in this time. We will also require a child only DBS check on the Update Service, and if not a candidate who is willing to obtain this.
This role is full-time, until the end of the academic year, with a competitive salary.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
