SEN Teaching Assistant

We are recruiting for a teaching assistant to work with pupils who are on varying degrees of the Autism Spectrum. This is a challenging and rewarding position that will require a resilient personality. Any childcare or care related experience will be beneficial.

This is a full-time position supporting secondary aged pupils supporting within our SEN school in the Totton area of Southampton. As well as challenging pupils who have been excluded from school, we also cater for children who have an EHCP for a range of special educational needs. 

Training includes:

• Safeguarding
• Team Teach - behaviour management
• Prevent Duty 

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils to develop and improve their behaviour within the classroom
• 1:1 and small group support with pupils 
• Aiding pupils to access the curriculum and education
• Find strengths of pupils and help them develop these areas

We are looking for someone who:

• Has some child care experience in any capacity - e.g schools, sports activities, care OR
• Has experience supporting challenging adults in any capacity e.g care, prison, police 
• If you have a relevant qualification this would be advantageous
• Bubbly and upbeat personality
• Resilient

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
