A special educational needs school in Trafford is looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant on an ongoing contact for students with moderate special needs .

The School

This catholic specialist school has a students centred ethos, creating a curriculum and environment which supports and encourages the students natural development in communication, independence and education.
Facilities here provide vocational opportunities as well as state of the art technology, and specialist therapy rooms for studnet's specific support needs.
Located in Trafford it is situated right next to a tram stop so travel is easy!


The Role

As Teaching Assistant you have the opportunity to make a profound difference to a students day to day school life by providing 1:1 assistance to thier many needs. Your responsibilities will include;

  • Classroom support - activities, organisation, engagement, behaviour, emotional support
  • Support in therapy sessions
  • Break/Lunch time supervision
  • Keeping progress reports

To be considered for the role of Teaching Assistant you need;

  • An enthusiastic and attentive personality
  • An understanding of special needs
  • Experience working with children or in a support capacity
  • Experience as Teaching Assistant (preferable but not essential)
  • Experience in education/ school environment (preferable but not essential)

Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered).

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.

The school require on and off support throughout the year depending on student intake and staffing needs, so there is always opportunity for contract extension and permanent roles for staff who are a great asset to the school.
