Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a Secondary School based in Wigan who are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support within their SEN department from September. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong SEN knowledge who may be considering a career in teaching.

About the role:

  • Start-date: 1st September
  • Full-time with opportunity for a permanent contract with the school
  • Opportunity to earn £90 to £110 per day (dependent on experience)

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the SENCO, creating and implementing individualised learning plans for students who require additional academic and social support. You will provide 1-1 and small group intervention, focusing on adapting the national curriculum to ensure all students are making progress with core subjects. Additionally, you will communicate feedback and progress updates with parents/carers regularly.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with SEN is necessary (school environment preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both students and staff
  • Good knowledge of SEN and current behaviour management techniques
  • A genuine passion for the development of young students
  • Empathetic, patient and caring approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
