Teaching Assistant (ASD Base) 

Teaching Personnel's partnered SEN School is a welcoming ASD Base for approximately 50 primary-aged children on the autistic spectrum. A multi-disciplinary and individualised ethos is followed at the school, all staff have an outstanding understanding of ASD and each child’s needs.

This school is looking for educators to start ASAP and after the Easter Half Term. 

About the Successful Teaching Assistant (ASD Base)

  • Available full-time, Monday to Friday (term-time only)
  • Outstanding knowledge of working effectively with children on the autistic spectrum
  • Flexibility and a deep understanding of supporting each child and their individual needs through curriculum adjustments
  • Makaton and PECS
  • Happy to support with occasional personal care when required
  • Lives within commutable distance or within the borough of Westminster
  • Be approachable, enthusiastic and reliable
  • Relevant degree or training

About the Teaching Assistant (ASD Base) Role

  • To provide support to all children (or 1-1) in the Base
  • To work effectively under the direction of the Class Teacher
  • To enthusiastically participate in ongoing training and professional development to ensure best practice
  • To support the social and communication needs of all students
  • Differentiate resources to effectively support individual needs
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of Safeguarding and other relevant school policies
  • To use specialist skills to meet the needs of all students and support the integration into a mainstream classroom
  • To manage behaviours effectively
  • To monitor and assess the progress of students
  • To work alongside a multi-disciplinary team, including therapists

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
