1:1 Teaching Assistant – Supporting a Vulnerable Student
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join an alternative provision, working closely with a highly vulnerable student with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a full-time, long-term position requiring someone who is compassionate, resilient, and committed to supporting a young person’s education and wellbeing.
The Role
The appointed Teaching Assistant will:

Provide tailored 1:1 support for a student with complex SEND needs.

Assist in managing emotional and behavioural challenges, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.

Collaborate with teachers and support staff to deliver personalised learning strategies.

Build positive relationships to encourage engagement, trust, and progress in education.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Proven experience of working with children with SEND, particularly those requiring high levels of support.

A patient, understanding, and committed approach to supporting vulnerable students.

Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

The ability to commit to a full-time, long-term role, offering consistency and stability.

This alternative provision offers a nurturing, structured environment for students who have struggled in mainstream education. Facilities include vocational classrooms such as a workshop and salon, alongside specialist spaces for Maths and English, all equipped with interactive whiteboards.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
