1:1 Teaching Assistant – Supporting a Vulnerable Student

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join an alternative provision, working closely with a highly vulnerable student with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a full-time, long-term position requiring someone who is compassionate, resilient, and committed to supporting a young person’s education and wellbeing.

The Role

The appointed Teaching Assistant will:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for a student with complex SEND needs.

  • Assist in managing emotional and behavioural challenges, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.

  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to deliver personalised learning strategies.

  • Build positive relationships to encourage engagement, trust, and progress in education.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience of working with children with SEND, particularly those requiring high levels of support.

  • A patient, understanding, and committed approach to supporting vulnerable students.

  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

  • The ability to commit to a full-time, long-term role, offering consistency and stability.

This alternative provision offers a nurturing, structured environment for students who have struggled in mainstream education. Facilities include vocational classrooms such as a workshop and salon, alongside specialist spaces for Maths and English, all equipped with interactive whiteboards.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
