Teaching Assistant – SEN Support

Location: Towcester and surrounding areas
Position: Full-Time, Monday to Friday

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have experience in a care-related or support-focused role such as healthcare, emergency services, armed forces, youth work, or sports coaching? If so, your skills could be an excellent fit for a Teaching Assistant role in one of our partner schools based in Towcester.

We are currently working with a number of specialist SEN schools in the Towcester area that are looking to expand their support teams. These schools provide education and care for children with a range of additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, social and emotional challenges, and complex learning difficulties. The schools require additional staff to work closely with students on either a 1:1 basis or in small groups, supporting their learning and personal development throughout the school day.

Experience in a school is not essential – your dedication, empathy, and willingness to learn are what matter most.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers in preparing and delivering classroom activities, including tailored support linked to each student’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

• Help manage behaviour positively and support students with emotional regulation

• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment

• Supervise and care for students during breaks, lunchtime, and transitions between activities

• Contribute to the overall wellbeing and development of each child you support

Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday, approximately 8:30am – 3:30pm
  (Times may vary slightly by school)

No evenings or weekend work required.

About You:

• A genuine interest in working with children and young people, particularly those with additional needs

• Experience in a school setting is helpful but not essential

• Transferable experience from roles such as care/support work, nursing, ambulance services, police force, military, residential care, youth work, or sports coaching is highly valued

• A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to use your initiative

• A patient and empathetic nature, with the resilience to work in a challenging but highly rewarding environment

• A current Enhanced DBS registered on the update service, or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
