SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary & Secondary (Complex Needs)
Location: Southampton
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Term-time only

Are you a compassionate, resilient and dedicated individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people with complex needs? Teaching Personnel are seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN school in Southampton, supporting pupils across both primary and secondary age groups.

This welcoming and well-resourced school caters for children with a range of complex learning needs, including ASD, communication difficulties, sensory needs and medical requirements. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to provide pupils with the individualised guidance they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a variety of complex needs

  • Assist in the delivery of tailored learning programmes

  • Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

  • Support pupils with personal care, emotional regulation and communication

  • Work collaboratively with the school’s multidisciplinary team

Requirements:

  • Experience in SEN, care, youth work or a related field is desirable but not essential

  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach

  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • A valid DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
