Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant – Salford

Full-time | April Start 

We are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support one of our partner schools in the Salford area.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students who require additional help to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff, providing both classroom support and targeted 1:1 or small‑group assistance.


Candidate Requirements

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people
  • Transferable skills or first-hand experience supporting others
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • Two recent references, including one from your most recent employer

This role is ideal for graduates or anyone seeking valuable school-based experience before progressing into teacher training.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups with work set by the class teacher
  • Assisting with catch-up sessions in English, Maths, and Science
  • Helping manage challenging behaviour and promoting positive routines
  • Acting as a role model and contributing to a safe, nurturing learning environment
  • Following school safeguarding policies and reporting concerns appropriately

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
