SEN Teaching Assistant
Supporting students with additional needs across local secondary mainstream schools.
Teaching Personnel are recruiting dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs in secondary schools across East Manchester, in areas including Hyde, Denton, Ashton‑under‑Lyne, Droylsden, Audenshaw and Dukinfield.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people, whether you have school‑based experience, SEN experience, or transferable skills from care, youth work, support work or psychology backgrounds.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for students with SEN
- Help pupils engage in learning and build confidence
- Support the class teacher to maintain an inclusive classroom environment
- Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs
- Encourage independence, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Work collaboratively with the SENCo and wider pastoral team
The Ideal Candidate
We would love to hear from you if you are:
- Experienced working with children or young people (school, care, youth work, mentoring, support work etc.)
- Confident supporting SEN pupils or keen to develop this experience
- Patient, proactive and able to build trusting relationships
- Adaptable and able to follow individual support plans
- Reliable, professional and committed to making a difference
- Available Monday–Friday during school hours
A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or prior SEN experience is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
