Role: Y6 1:1 Behaviour Support - full time Role from September 2023

Location: PR5 Primary School

Work Times: 32.5 hours per week across 5 days (working time: 8.45am – 3.15pm)

Pay Rate: £11.85 per hour.

The Headteacher of a primary school in Preston (PR5) is looking for a teaching assistant to support a child on a 1:1 basis in Year 6. This Role will be start after the Lancashire Easter holidays and run for the full term until summer. This will be a five-day per week position covering 32.5 hours. The rate of pay is competitive with other roles of this sort, so is a very good opportunity.

In terms of needs the child in question can sometimes become dis-engaged, a firm but fair approach is required. The child does have a keen interest in sport therefore if you hold a sports qualification this would be considered. Experience working with children presenting challenging behaviours would be beneficial. The Teaching Assistant would be expected to be able to de – escalate challenging behaviour and notice triggers in change of behaviour to prevent.

Candidates must hold a relevant childcare qualification, health and social care qualification or Teaching Assistant qualification (L2 minimum). 

The school is accessible from Preston bus station and train station. The school has a car park for staff as well. This school is classed as ‘GOOD’ by OFSTED. The school is larger than the average-sized primary school. There are three classes in Year 1 and two classes in each year group from Year 2 to Year 6. It is a growing school. Since 2011−12 an additional 30 pupils each year have been admitted into Reception. The Schools children and staff work together to be the very best they can. The school aims provide an excellent education, to be forward thinking and strive for continual improvement.
