SEN Teaching Assistant

£11.85 Per Hour

Based In A Secondary School In Newport

Teaching personnel are working closely with one of their schools to recruit a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant. The school requires an SEN Teaching assistant to support a pupil in year 7 who has autism. The student requires 1 to 1 help and assistant with their education and emotional wellbeing. The successful candidate will need to encourage, support, and ease the students transition secondary school education. During the day you may need to combat potential disruptions that may arise, de-escalating situations and stepping in to remove the pupil from the lesson if needed.

This will be a full-time role starting in September (The new academic year) and you will be required to work Monday to Friday. This is an amazing opportunity for the perfect person to step into a role and really make a difference to someone’s life. You will be supported by a network of teachers and heads of departments to ensure that each child within the school receives the best education they can.

The successful teaching assistant will have some experience with Special Educational Needs, whether that be in a professional or a personal setting. A good understanding of Autism and the different effects that can have on a person is desired although training is available. Patience and understanding are two of the key characteristics that we will be looking for in this role as this can be a frustrating role on times.

The Ideal Teaching assistant

  • Available to work on a full-time basis
  • Can travel to the Np18 Area
  • Confident with pressured situations
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about helping others

The Teaching Assistant must have

  • Must have an enhanced DBS (assistance provided)
  • Registered with the education workforce council (assistance provided)
  • A minimum of core GCSE's
  • Available full time Safeguarding Trained (assistance provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
