Are you a caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic individual who wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with complex needs?
We’re looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at a specialist school in Newcastle. Our school supports pupils with a variety of complex needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and medical conditions.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support, both in and outside the classroom.
  • Collaborating with teachers and therapists to deliver personalised learning programmes.
  • Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Supporting pupils with personal care and sensory regulation when needed.
  • Acting as a positive role model, encouraging independence, confidence, and social development.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Ideally has experience working with children or young people with SEND (though this is not essential).
  • Remains calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills and works well in a team.
  • Is adaptable, proactive, and eager to learn.
  • Holds (or is willing to work towards) relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate or Team Teach training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
