Job description

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1-to-1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 7 student with complex medical and educational needs, including tics, fits, and Tourette’s Syndrome. This role requires a patient, attentive, and proactive individual to provide continuous care and assistance both in the classroom and throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored educational support to enable the student to access the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist with managing and supporting the student’s specific health needs, including monitoring and responding to tics, fits, and other symptoms.
  • Work closely with teachers, medical professionals, and family to ensure a consistent and safe care plan.
  • Support the student’s social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Maintain detailed records of care and progress.

The Educator will require the following:

  • Experience working with children who have neurological or medical conditions, preferably including Tourette’s and epilepsy/seizure disorders.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm demeanour under pressure.
  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education or care are desirable.
  • DBS clearance will be required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
