Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Job Type: Temporary, Part Time

Location: Lancaster, Lancashire LA2

Salary: Competitive pay £13.75 - £14.50

Teaching Personnel are working with a very small and ‘GOOD’ rated school, that are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to start in January 2026. Due to their high percentage of SEN children, the right person for this role will have previous experience with a range of special educational needs in children. This TA will need to be proactive and interactive with the children, with a passionate and dedicated approach to helping them. Prior experience implementing EHCPs and IEPs would be beneficial for this role.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils with Special educational needs
  • Assisting with the implementation of EHCPs
  • Support the development and implementation of individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Using PECs to communicate with children who have communication difficulties.
  • Adapt and modify different learning materials to meet the individual needs of each child
  • Have an open minded and tailored approach to engaging with the children
  • Working closely with the teachers to create a nurturing and inclusive environment
  • Assisting with classroom management and behaviour support when needed

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs is essential
  • Prior experience with implementing EHCPs
  • Supporting pupils in small groups and 1:1 to help their development
  • Based in Lancaster LA2 or able to commute there
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the requirements different SEN
  • A genuine passion for helping children meet their full potential
  • Relevant qualifications would be beneficial but are not mandatory
