SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School
Pay: £14.25 – £15.50 per hour

About the School
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Knotty Ash area. The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join the school on a long-term basis from September 2026.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional learning needs.
- Supporting the delivery of personalised learning activities aligned with EHCP targets.
- Assisting children with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language difficulties, and hearing impairments.
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.
- Promoting consistent routines and supporting positive behaviour strategies.
- Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
- Have previous experience working within a primary school setting.
- Have experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Be patient, adaptable, and nurturing in their approach.
- Be confident adapting resources and learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to supporting children's development.
Location & Transport
The school is easily accessible via public transport. Bus stops at Broadgreen Hospital and Thingwall Lane are both approximately five minutes’ walk away, with regular services including the 7, 102, and 204 connecting the area to Liverpool City Centre and surrounding districts. Broad Green railway station is also within walking distance, making the school convenient to reach from across Merseyside.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
