ADHD Support Assistant – Toxteth (L8)

Location: Primary School, Toxteth, Liverpool
Contract Type: Full-time
Start Date: September 2026
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.00 per hour

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Toxteth, Liverpool, which is looking to appoint a dedicated ADHD Support Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and compassionate individual who is passionate about supporting children with ADHD and helping them achieve their full potential within a structured and nurturing learning environment.

The Role

As an ADHD Support Assistant, you will provide targeted support to pupils with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), working closely with class teachers, the SENCO and other professionals to implement effective strategies that encourage engagement, emotional regulation and academic success.

The role may involve supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, both within the classroom and during targeted intervention sessions where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with ADHD to access learning and participate fully in the curriculum.
  • Assist with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support plans.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Encourage the development of social, emotional and behavioural skills.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff and parents/carers.
  • Use appropriate behaviour management strategies to support pupils effectively.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with ADHD or similar additional needs, either within a school or alternative setting.
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach to supporting behaviour and learning.
  • A good understanding of neurodiversity and inclusive educational practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or SEN training, are desirable but not essential.
