At Teaching Personnel we are working closely with a primary school in the Haywards Heath area that has asked us to recruit a 1:1/learning support assistant. The roles will be supporting the needs of a particular child with some SEN needs such as traits of ADHD and autism, short attention span, needs individualised short tasks, lots of praise and enthusiasm etc.

The position will begin after Easter half-term 2024 and the schools have indicated that they will move into a permanent position with them for the right candidate after a period of review.

Full-Time 8.30-3.30pm (Monday - Friday)

What does it take to be a 1:1 Teaching Assistant?

  • Passion for education
  • Experience of SEN requirements
  • Patience and understanding
  • No formal educational qualifications necessary - however experience of SEN needs is essential.
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs in core subjects
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate available on the Update service (Teaching Personnel can assist)

Job role:

  • Reading or explaining tasks to the child, understanding, and supporting their needs and keeping them focused on their tasks.
  • Manage challenging behaviours.
  • Support the teacher to maintain learning and help children access the curriculum.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
