SEN Teaching Assistant – Wakefield

Dewsbury, Batley and Surrounding Areas

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with Primary and Schools across Dewsbury, Batley, Heckmondwike and surroundng areas, and we are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with a range of additional needs.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs (e.g. ASC, SEMH, ADHD, MLD, SLD)
  • Providing 1:1 or small-group support
  • Assisting with personalised learning plans and differentiated activities
  • Helping pupils regulate behaviour, emotions, and communication
  • Encouraging independence, engagement, and confidence
  • Ensuring the learning environment is safe, nurturing, and inclusive
  • Following individual behaviour, care, and EHCP plans
  • Upholding all safeguarding and school policies

Essential Requirements

To be considered, you must have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (school-based or transferable)
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A passion for supporting pupils with special educational needs
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • The legal right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
