We are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to work on a 1-1 basis with a SEN student at a school in Wimborne. At least three years experience working with SEN is desired. Your role will be to help assist the student in their learning and personal development. Relationship building skills are important in this role as you will need to build trust quickly with the student.
You will be required to aid the student with their learning by helping them focus on tasks and making their learning interesting with the use of different and creative resources. It is important that instructions are clear and explained in a manner which the student will understand, you will need to learn what method works best for the student and tailor your support to their needs. Good communication skills are important as you will be required to liaise with the class teacher regarding the students’ progress and to also help plan their work based around their achievements and progress to help ensure their work is appropriate for them. You will also need to communicate with the SENCO and other professionals regarding the student’s education plan (IEPs) when required.
At times you may be required to take the student out of the classroom to help them engage with their learning this will involve activities such as outdoor learning or to go to a quiet room to do reading or to complete work there if the student is struggling with the noises within the classroom.
The ideal candidate will be aware of Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behaviour, Teaching and Learning and Equal Opportunities policies. Organisational and time management skills are very important in this role as a lack of these skills could distress the student. You will also need a Child Workforce DBS which can be completed during the recruitment process.

The school are looking for somebody to start as soon as possible. Your hours will be 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday – Friday during term time.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
