Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
FTE Salary: £23,555
School Base: Primary School near Callington
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 22nd July 2026 (with potential to become permanent)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours (weekly): 20
Working Weeks (Support Staff only): 38


We are seeking to appoint a nurturing, dedicated and highly motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our hardworking and skilled team at a primary school near Callington.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference to young children’s lives and supporting them to achieve their full potential. Under the supervision of the class teacher, you will play a vital role in the children’s education and well-being. The role also includes lunchtime supervision.


Key Responsibilities:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for children with Special Educational Needs.

  • Help to create and maintain a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back observations to teachers and SENCO.

  • Prepare and adapt learning resources to suit the needs of individual children.

  • Supervise pupils during transitions, break times and lunchtimes.

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO and external professionals to deliver tailored support.


We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with and supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), or SEN-specific training.

  • Holds GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.

  • Has previous experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.

  • A Teaching Assistant qualification would be advantageous.

This is a fantastic temp-to-perm opportunity: you’ll start the role through Teaching Personnel for a short period, before transferring onto a direct school contract running until July 2026.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
