SEN Teaching Assistant in Guildford

We are currently looking for SEN Teaching Assistants in Guildford to provide support for children with a range of additional needs within a specialist setting. SEN Teaching Assistants will work in a specialist school environment, assisting students with special educational needs with aspects such as learning and behaviour management. The role may require occasional physical assistance and personal care for students with disabilities. The working hours may vary based on the school's schedule and the needs of the students, however typical hours are 8:30am - 3:30pm Monday to Friday. The assistant will collaborate closely with teachers, other support staff, and external professionals to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Job Duties:

SEN Teaching Assistants will be responsible for providing support to students with special educational needs (SEN) in a school setting. The main duties include:

  • Assisting SEN students in their learning activities, both individually and in small groups.
  • Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies for SEN students.
  • Supporting the teacher in delivering lessons and adapting materials to meet the needs of SEN students.
  • Providing personal care and assistance to students with physical disabilities or additional needs.
  • Monitoring and recording students' progress and reporting to the teacher.
  • Collaborating with other professionals, such as speech therapists or occupational therapists, to implement specialised interventions.
  • Supporting students during break times and extracurricular activities.
  • Ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of different types of special educational needs and appropriate support strategies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with SEN.

Required Qualifications:

No specific qualifications are needed for this role. However, experience or training in supporting individuals with special educational needs is desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
