Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
A large school in the heart of Blackburn have approached Teaching Personnel in order to appoint a highly skilled SEN experienced Teaching Assistant who can work from January 2019 until the end of the academic year supporting a child with a range of special educational needs. The needs of the child vary and so it is important that you have had good experiences working on a 1:1 basis alongside children with special educational needs or in an SEN provision. Also, in order to be considered for this role you must hold a Level 2 teaching assistant qualification or above. In the past, the school have been happy to appoint temporary members of staff with equivalent qualifications such as; Degrees in Education or Disability Studies; Level 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care; and BTEC National Diploma's. The important aspect of recruiting for this school is that the applying candidates have a good balance of experience with Special Educational Needs and the right personality to build good working relationships with the staff and the children.
The school have recently undergone a full Ofsted inspection in which they moved from Requires Improvement to GOOD. It was noted in the Ofsted report that the Head teacher was an inspiration and the work she has completed since taking the role has been nothing short of a miracle. The staff who work in school provide the children with good opportunities to progress both academically and socially. The report also mentions that the support implemented by the dedicated SENCO and the support staff is also of a high quality. There are a number of children who arrive in school with varying special educational needs and so the school is well equipped to meet individual learning needs.
The role we are looking to fill will commence from January 2019 and will continue until at least the end of the academic year. You will be expected to work alongside a child diagnosed with Autism. The child does have behavioural needs and struggles to access the Curriculum for the age related levels. This will be a challenging role and one that isnt to be taken lightly - the child does have a number of needs which mean you will need to be on form every day of the week.
